The Indian market sees all kinds of cars being sold every year across all categories, all thanks to the various Indian and global brands that make it happen. However, there are a few global brands that still haven't set foot in the country. This makes it difficult for one to procure these vehicles. Importing is an option but there are so many added costs and regulatory hurdles to overcome that one would be better off buying a locally available car. Let's take a look at some of the car brands we would like to see making an entry into India.

A division of General Motors, Buick is a premium automobile brand that sells luxury vehicles. It has a huge presence in China, which gives us hopes that someday the company might drive south, into India. We particularly look forward to seeing the stunning Buick Encore setting Indian roads on fire. The quiet and reliable vehicle is known to offer excellent ride quality. Envision is another beauty from Buick's stables that's worth appreciating. Among other things, the compact crossover SUV comes with advanced active noise cancelling technology that keeps the interiors incredibly quiet. Buick also has a rich history from the American muscle car era. In fact, Ratan Tata used to own a magnificent 1978 Buick Skylark, which was a treat to the eyes.

Acura

Honda's Acura division can infuse the Indian car market with plenty of excellent premium sedans and SUVs. It currently produces two luxury SUV models in the form of the Acura RDX and the Acura MDX. The MDX can comfortably sit 7 people, while the RDX can manage a seating of 5. Also, in the Acura lineup is the NSX Supercar, which has a top speed of 307kmph and can go from 0 to 100 in just a little more than 3 seconds. Although there were reports of Honda planning to launch Acura in India but so far, nothing official has come out regarding the matter.

Toyota-owned Daihatsu is active in several Asian countries. Its knack for coming up with attractive yet powerful hatchbacks and compact vans makes it a perfect fit in the Indian car space. The company also sells a couple of big vehicles like the Daihatsu Mebius (based on the Toyota Prius) and the Daihatsu Altis (based on the Toyota Corolla). Toyota's success in India has mainly been in the large cars segment but Daihatsu's hatchbacks might just give it a standing chance in beating Maruti in the small cars race.

Genesis

The first thing that comes to mind when someone refers to the brand Genesis is the G90. The iconic four-door, luxury sedan has given the company tremendous success over the years. Despite being a full-size sedan, it boasts great fuel efficiency. Its comfortable interiors and all-round safety features add great value to the proposition. Hyundai-owned Genesis also has an SUV in its lineup in the form of the GV80. This mean machine has an exterior appearance that will stop you in your tracks at first glimpse. Recent reports of Genesis getting ready to enter India were corroborated by the spotting of a Genesis G80 on the streets of Mumbai. Let's see when the company chooses to make things official.

Here's another company with a rich history in the automobile industry. Spanish giant SEAT produces some remarkable compact cars, MPVs, SUVs, and sedans that are ideal for Indian conditions. We are particularly fond of the SEAT Leon, which impresses with its bold design and the ample space it offers in its interiors despite its hatchback nature. If SEAT decides to enter India, it could pose serious competition to major players in the country's automobile industry.

Subaru

A pioneer in the AWD space, Subaru also has a massive presence in motorsports. But its consumer portfolio is a really good fit for India. The Subaru WRX is an iconic vehicle from the brand that's quite an eye-grabber. But our favourite car in the Subaru line-up is the BRZ, a sports car that offers an authentic driving experience and shares much of its structure with the new Toyota 86. The Subaru Ascent is also an incredibly popular offering from the brand. It's an AWD family car that has a flexible cabin with three rows of seats.
