A major landline took place on the Reckong Peo-Shimla highway in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh earlier today. As reported by ANI, several vehicles including a Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus carrying about 40 passengers, came under the rubble. The teams of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) have rushed to carry out rescue operations. Over 40 people are feared trapped under the debris, Deputy Commissioner Abid Hussain Sadiq said to PTI.

Deputy Commissioner Sadiq further said that shooting stones are still falling which is creating problems in carrying out the rescue operation. More details are awaited on the incident.
The Army, National Disaster Response Force and local rescue teams have been called in for the rescue work, the Kinnaur Deputy Commissioner said Sadiq.
Heavy rain has caused many landslides in parts of Himachal Pradesh over the past few weeks.
On the Kinnaur landslide incident, Himachal Pradesh CM Jairam Thakur said, "We've directed police and local administration to carry out rescue operations. NDRF has also been put on alert. We have received information that one bus and a car could have been hit; awaiting detailed information."
