Lumax Auto Technoligies is one of the leading auto component brands in India when it comes to lighting technology for automobiles. Be it daytime running headlights, LED projector lamps, full-LED lights, dynamic turn indicators, LED headlights or the basic halogen headlamps, Lumax has a wide range of offerings and has an expansive OEM clientele for its products. Going forward, the company plans to advance even further in terms of technology and sees market potential in headlight camera integration technology which, according to the company, will play a crucial role in safety tech and autonomous driving.
The camera integration technology will also facilitate autonomous driving.
Speaking to carandbike, Vineet Sahni, Group CEO, Lumax Group said that modern day headlights have become very advanced and it's only going to get upgraded in the future.
"At the moment it's more towards LEDs, but the next step as we were discussing will be towards camera integration and more safety into that," Sahni said.
The camera integration technology will also facilitate features like car-to-car connected tech, autonomous tech, on screen camera visibility which can be very helpful in dense fog situation and pedestrian alert features. That said, the company has just started exploring this space as it sees market potential, and is yet to start its development or come up with a prototype.
Lumax Group has recently come up with its new plant in Bawal with an investment of Rs. 100 crore. The new plant is dedicated to manufacturing Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) and at present it manufactures around 25,000 PCBs everyday using four assembly lines. The manufacturing unit still has the capacity to add around 12 more assembly lines with an investment of around Rs. 10 crores for each assembly line. The company has been working with leading automakers in India like Maruti Suzuki, Honda Cars India, Audi, Hyundai India, TVS Motor Company, Hero MotoCorp and Bajaj Auto among others.
