Mahindra revealed the all-new XUV400 electric SUV recently with a launch planned for early next year. Based on the XUV300, the XUV400 sits above the four-metre mark though much of the design and cabin shares the same basic design as the XUV300. Here is what you should know about Mahindra’s new SUV.
At 4,200 mm, the XUV400 is a full 205 mm longer than the XUV300, its sister model, though at 2,600 mm the wheelbase remains unchanged. The width too is unchanged at 1821 mm
The XUV400 will be the first Mahindra to wear the new EV specific copper-finished twin-peaks logo when it goes on sale next year.
The exterior design is very similar to the XUV300 though up front the XUV400 gets a closed off grille, redesigned bumper and copper-accents to be identifiable as an EV.
The XUV400 will get a copper-coloured roof as well.
The cabin design is unchanged from the XUV300 though the XUV400 does get copper trim inserts and all-black upholstery.
The XUV400 packs in 60+ connected vehicle functions including some dedicated for EVs such as trip planning and maps with EV charging stations displayed.
The XUV400 will come with a 39.4kWh battery pack giving it a range of up to 456 km
The XUV400 will support up to 50 kW DC fast charging. Mahindra says that the charger will fill the battery up to 80% in 50 minutes. With a 7.2 kW/32A outlet, the XUV400 takes 6 hours 30 minutes for 0-100% charge, while a full charge from a 3.3kW/16A socket takes 13 hours.
The XUV400 will feature an electric motor powering the front wheels. It will develop 148 bhp and 310 Nm and propel the SUV from 0-100 kmph in a claimed 8.3 seconds. Top speed is a claimed 150 kmph.
Mahindra will launch the XUV400 in India in January 2023 with deliveries to start in phases from the end of the same month.
