The next generation Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is expected to make its debut later this year in India and has been spotted testing several times in India and more recently in Indonesia as well. While the India launch is still sometime away, the Indonesian media reports that the new generation Ertiga is likely to be revealed at the upcoming Indonesia International Motor Show set to commence on April 19, 2018. Indonesian publication Kompas also reports that dealerships in the South East Asian country have also started accepting pre-bookings for the MPV ahead of its debut for 5 million Indonesian Rupiah (around Rs. 23,000).
Indonesia is a MPV-dominated market and the Ertiga is a popular offering in its segment. This would explain why Suzuki wants to debut the Ertiga there first, before the model makes its way to the Indian market. The new generation Maruti Suzuki Ertiga will see a major overhaul in design, space, and practicality. The MPV is expected to be based on the all-new Heartect platform shared with the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Swift models, but is likely to get an extended wheelbase and will also be substantially longer than the outgoing model.

Previous spy shots have revealed little about the design of the new-gen Ertiga. That said, the model is expected to go upmarket in its appearance and appeal with large single-frame grille, projector lamps with LED DRLs, LED taillights and more. The windscreen is also more rakish as seen in the previous spy images, while the doors appear to be slightly larger as well making way for easy ingress and egress. The MPV will continue to be a seven-seater offering.
Engine options for India will include the 1.4-litre K-Series petrol and a 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engines from the current model. Reports do suggest that Maruti Suzuki could introduce a 1.5-litre diesel engine on the Ertiga (and subsequently across its line-up), which is currently under development by Suzuki. When it comes to India later this year, the new gen Ertiga will take on the Renault Lodgy and the upcoming Mahindra U321 MPV in the segment.
