The Ford Endeavour has been one of the most popular models in India's full-size SUV segment. Globally called the Everest, the model first came to India as the Ford Endeavour in 2003, while the second-gen model was launched in 2016. However, the Endeavour was discontinued in India after Ford decided to end local production in 2021. Having said that, over the years, the Endeavour has created a strong niche for itself among enthusiasts, and it is still in demand in the used car market. So, if you too are planning to buy a pre-owned Ford Endeavour, here are some pros and cons you must consider.
Pros:
The Endeavour is an extremely capable SUV. It has an imposing road presence thanks to its huge size and high riding stance and is bound to stand out among the sea of cars on the road. The newer-gen model also looks quite good in our opinion.
The Endeavour shows great high-speed stability and despite its over 2-tonne weight, feels quick on its feet. The ride quality too is good as it takes all the broken roads and potholes in its stride.
The SUV is also a formidable 4x4 and if you get the newer-gen model you will also get its very capable terrain management system that offers you different driving modes like sand, snow, and gravel.
The second-gen Endeavour is also loaded with features like LED lights, hands-free tailgate release and closure, a 360-degree camera with auto park assist, Ford's SYNC-3 connectivity system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 10-speed automatic gearbox.
Cons:
The BS6 version of the Endeavour comes with a 2.0-litre diesel which feels a bit underpowered compared to the older 3.2-litre unit. So, if you are in the market for the Endeavour, then the 3.2-litre diesel is the one to go for.
Ford has stopped local production in India and like other models, the Ford Endeavour has been discontinued in our market. Hence, in the long run, aftersales and spare parts availability could be a problem.
The Endeavour is literally a gas guzzler. It is heavy and that takes a toll on the fuel economy of the SUV.
The SUV is also quite expensive, even by used car standards. Well, you can get one of the older first-gen models for as low as Rs. 2 lakh to Rs. 5 lakh, but a newer second-gen Endeavour can cost you around 10-times that price. A less than 5-year-old Ford Endeavor will cost anywhere around Rs. 18 lakh to Rs. 30 lakh, depending on the model and its condition.
