The Hero Xpulse 200 is one of the best starting points for someone who's trying to get into the world of adventure riding. The motorcycle is a purpose-built motorcycle that is designed for off-roading and touring. While a brand-new Hero Xpulse 200 itself is quite reasonably priced, if you are on a very tight budget, you can consider going for a used motorcycle. Pros
The Hero Xpulse is a purpose-built motorcycle, and it fulfils that purpose exceptionally well. It's a very capable off-roader, and features like the 21-inch front wheel, spoked rims, engine bash plate, and long-travel suspension only enhance its capabilities.
The Xpulse 200 comes with several smart features and accessories like - an engine bash plate, crash guard, knuckle guard, LED DRLs LED headlight and LED taillight along with a fully digital instrument cluster, Hero Ride Guide navigation app and an under-seat USB charger. And all of these are standard.
The Xpulse 200 offers the best ride quality in this segment. Period. The motorcycle glides over unpaved terrains, bad roads, and even potholes like nobody's business. The suspension is plush and surefooted and possibly one of the biggest USPs of the motorcycle.
The Xpulse 200 is powered by a 199.6 cc single-cylinder oil-cooled engine that makes 18 bhp and 17 Nm of peak torque. The newer 4-valve version offers 19 bhp and 18 Nm of peak torque. The motor is quite tractable and performs nicely.

Cons
The older Xpulse 200 with the BS4 compliant 2-valve motor, which you are likely to find in larger numbers, wasn't the more refined motor. While it performed nicely, there were some noticeable vibrations and heating issues.
Some of the features of the Xpulse have very noticeable shortcomings. Like the LED headlight could do with better illumination and throw, the USB charger under the seat is not the most accessible, and the Hero Ride Guide navigation app is not the most reliable feature of the bike.
The Xpulse 200 doesn't offer the best top-end performance. While the bike is capable of attaining triple-digit speeds, the 2-valve version performed best at cruising speeds of up to 90 kmph. This did improve with the 4-valve version which has a sweet spot of 100-105 kmph.
