Tata Motors-owned Jaguar Land Rover has posted a decline of 15.5 per cent in sales for August 2020. According to the regulatory filing, the British automaker sold 28,887 units last month, seeing a sharp decline in year-on-year volumes when compared to the same month last year. The luxury carmaker also saw a year-on-year drop in sales in the markets like North America, Europe and China. However, JLR saw some encouraging numbers in the UK market with recovering sentiments from the market and the launch of Defender SUV.
Harley-Davidson LiveWire electric-powered production motorcycle created history by setting new world records for top speed and elapsed time on a drag racing course last week. Three-time Pro Stock Motorcycle champion, Angelle Sampey helped the electric bike clock these world records during the quarter and eighth-mile run. The bike covered the eighth-mile distance in just 7.017-seconds while the full quarter-mile course was completed in just 11.156 seconds at the speed of 177.59 kmph. The top speed of the 2020 LiveWire motorcycle is limited to 177 kmph.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highway (MoRTH) today announced that it has initiated a transformational programme to implement various new international emission standards along with safety measures in the transport vehicles. The Ministry said, it has already notified numerous regulations for upgrading emission and safety features in the industry. As far as these regulations are concerned, the union government intends to make the Indian automotive industry at par with developed countries. The Italian luxury car manufacturer Maserati has officially teased a new compact SUV, which is expected to make its debut next year. To be called Grecale, the SUV's name was announced during the 'MMXX' event where the brand showcased the MC20 mild-hybrid supercar. The 2021 Maserati Grecale SUV will be built at Cassino plant in Italy, which is the same plant where the Alfa Romeo Stelvio and Giulia sedan are manufactured. State-run oil companies on Saturday revised the prices of petrol and diesel across all the metro cities. Oil marketing companies have announced a reduction in petrol and diesel prices by 13 paise and 12 paise respectively. Both the auto fuels remained unchanged on Friday after receiving a price cut on Thursday. With the new rates coming into effect early morning, petrol and diesel in the national capital now retail at Rs. 81.86 per litre and Rs. 72.93 per litre, respectively.

Toyota India on Monday reported nine new cases of Covid-19 among its employees at its Bidadi plant in Karnataka. The infected employees had last attended work on 20th, 27th, 28th August & 2nd & 3rd September 2020. A total of 37positive cases of COVID-19 have been reported from Toyota's Bidadi plant last week. The Japanese carmaker confirmed the emergence of 6, 3, 2, 14, 3 and 9 COVID-19 positive cases from August 31 to September 5, respectively. Taking necessary steps for the same, the company has quarantined these employees who have suspected to have had contact with the infected employees which is in-line with government guidelines. They carried out this process through appropriate contact tracing.
MG Motor India officially launched the special anniversary edition of the MG Hector SUV in the country. The limited-edition model of the SUV is offered in both petrol and diesel version, which gets a starting price of Rs. 13.63 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The MG Hector Special Anniversary edition is available only in the Super trim. The diesel version is priced from Rs. 14.99 lakh (ex-showroom India). Notably, the prices of the special edition are the same as that of the regular model based on the Super trim.
State-owned oil marketing companies on Monday slightly slashed diesel rates price across the metros, while the petrol prices remained untouched, as per the notification from Indian Oil Corporation. With new rates coming into effect, customers in Delhi will now have to pay Rs. 73.16 per litre for diesel. On the other hand, petrol in Delhi remained unchanged at Rs. 82.08 per litre. On Sunday, the two auto fuels retailed in the national capital at Rs. 73.27 per litre and Rs. 82.08 per litre.
