HSRP and colour-coded stickers are mandatory for all vehicles registered in NCT of Delhi and action can be taken against vehicle owners violating the norm under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989.
The Delhi government's new electric vehicle policy envisages incentives to cut to 50 per cent by March 2023 fleet of petrol-powered two-wheelers used by delivery service providers in the city. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who launched the Delhi Electric Vehicle Policy on Friday, sought the cooperation of all stakeholders in implementing it. It is expected that the incentives will encourage delivery service providers like those engaged in food delivery, e-commerce logistics and courier services to switch to using electric two-wheelers, the EV policy stated.
The Bihar government on Friday extended till September 30 the validity of driving licences, permits, registration and other related documents which had lapsed in February in view of novel coronavirus pandemic. This is the second time that an extension is being given. Earlier, the validity had been given an extension from February 1 to June 30, Transport Departments secretary Sanjay Kumar Agarwal said. The extension would provide relief to vehicle owners and drivers whose documents validity had either expired on February 1, or those whose validity is set to lapse by June 30, Agarwal said.
Petrol and diesel prices were increased on Sunday by 60 paisa per litre, as the state-owned oil firms restarted daily price revisions after an 82-day hiatus. Petrol price in Delhi was hiked to Rs 71.86 per litre from Rs 71.26 a litre till Saturday, while diesel rates were increased to Rs 69.99 per litre from Rs 69.39, according to a price notification of state oil marketing companies. Daily price revision has restarted, an oil company official said. While oil PSUs have regularly revised ATF and LPG prices, they had since March 16 kept petrol and diesel prices on hold, ostensibly on account of extreme volatility in the international oil markets.

The Goa government has decided to slash road tax by 50 per cent on purchase of new vehicles for a period of three months to boost the auto industry, state Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho said on Tuesday. With festivals like Dussehra and Diwali coming up, the state government's decision will help the sluggish auto industry, he told PTI. "The government has decided to reduce the road tax by 50 per cent on purchase of new vehicles for three months from October," Godinho informed.
Ultra-clean BS-VI grade petrol and diesel supplies will expand to seven more districts of Haryana from October 1 to cover the entire national capital region as oil companies extend the fuel coverage to all over the country in a phased manner. While the country will leapfrog from the current BS-IV grade fuel to BS-VI, which have emission standards equivalent to Euro-VI fuel, from April 1, 2020, state-owned oil firms began supplying the ultra-clean fuel in the national capital in April last year. Supplies of BS-VI grade petrol and diesel was extended to neighbouring districts in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh in April this year and now it has been extended to Haryana.
India's first highway corridors with charging stations for electric vehicles are expected to come up along the Delhi-Jaipur and Delhi-Agra highways by 2020, an official said. The combined stretch of the corridors on the Yamuna Expressway (between Delhi and Agra) and the National Highway 48 (between Delhi and Jaipur) will be 500 km, and 18 charging stations will be setup near toll plazas on the two routes, the official said. The e-corridors are proposed to be the first under the Ease of Doing Business Programme (EODB) of the Advance Services for Social and Administrative Reforms (ASSAR), a private entity which is supported by the central government, an official engaged in the project said.
