The press days for the 2018 Geneva Motor Show have come to an end and in those two days, we saw more than half a dozen concepts that literally blew our minds. With new technologies showcased, Geneva had something for everyone and we were not left disappointed. We have complied a list of hypercar concepts to electric concepts that took centre-stage at the 88th Geneva International Motor Show and have created a buzz for the future.
BMW M8 Gran Coupe Concept
(We expect it to get the company's flagship 6.6-litre twin-turbo V12 engine)
The BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe shows off the company's new design language up front and is low to the road with its broad stance and muscular surfaces along with precise contours on the bonnet. On the other hand, the prominent diffuser and two sets of M twin exhaust tailpipes have the ability to put any sportscar to shame. As far as the tech specs go, BMW has not yet revealed any technical specifications of the M8 Gran Coupe Concept, but we expect it to get the company's flagship 6.6-litre twin-turbo V12 engine.
Hyundai Le Fil Rouge Concept
(Hyundai has retained the cascading grille up front but gets a three-dimensional treatment)
Hyundai Le Fil Rouge Concept follows a new design language which will be used for all the future sedans and SUVs from the company. While the Le Fil Rouge Concept is all about future, Hyundai has retained the cascading grille up front but gets a three-dimensional treatment, featuring parametric jewels inside. As far as the technology of the Le Fil Rouge concept goes, the folks over at Hyundai say it is inspired by aircraft ventilation with a two-way air ventilation system that blows air over the curved surface of lightweight tube architecture.
Pininfarina HK GT Concept
(Powering the HK GT are four electric motors which churn out a total power of 1,073 bhp)
The Mahindra owned- Pininfarina showcased the HK Gran Turismo, or just HK GT concept which is the company's fourth concept car conceived with Hybrid Kinetic Group. Complementing the HK GT concept's futuristic look is the chrome slat that opens up like a petal to frame the high-tech headlights. The gull wings are just an added bonus. Powering the HK GT are four electric motors which churn out a total power of 1,073 bhp from the 38 kW batteries. With a claimed top speed of 350 kmph, Pininfarina says the concept can do 0-100kmph in just 2.7 seconds.
Porsche Mission E Cross Turismo Concept
(The Mission E Cross Turismo gets its strength from its off-road capability along with the design of a capable crossover)
With the Mission E Cross Turismo, Porsche unveiled the concept study of an electrically driven Cross Utility Vehicle (CUV) at Geneva. The Mission E Cross Turismo gets its strength from its off-road capability along with the design of a capable crossover. The low cut bonnet between the curved wings reminds us of the economic Porsche 911, while the four-point DRLs have evolved into narrow, three-dimensional glass elements. The electric motor supporting the Mission E Cross Turismo are two magnetic motors (PSM) with a system output of more than 591 bhp which allows the EV to accelerate to 100kmph in less than 3.5 seconds.
Renault EZ-GO Concept
(Renault says the EZ-GO concept can easily accommodate up to 6 people and is the best option while traveling through the city)
Renault showcased the EZ-GO robo-vehicle which is a complete electric and driverless vehicle. While it was the concept that was present at Geneva, the production version will debut later this year as Renault's vision of a future on-demand mobility service will see many more concepts by the turn of this decade. Styled like a cocoon, Renault says the EZ-GO concept can easily accommodate up to 6 people and is the best option while traveling through the city. Renault EZ-GO concept is built on a platform specifically designed for its electric motor, which is located on the rear axle to increase comfort.
SsangYong e-SIV EV Concept
(The e-SIV EV concept is a C-segment sized electric vehicle and is SsangYong's fifth electric car concept to be exhibited)
The e-SIV EV concept is a C-segment sized electric vehicle and is SsangYong's fifth electric car concept to be exhibited. The new SsangYong e-SIV stands for 'Electronic Smart Interface Vehicle' and is central in helping to shape the next-generation of SsangYong SUVs and EVs. The e-SIV EV concept is loaded with the latest gizmos and also gets Level 2 autonomous driving feature. That's not all, as SsangYong also promises the connected car service to improve both safety and convenience.
Skoda Vision X Concept
(The Vision X concept is the company's latest addition to its SUV line-up and will be placed below the new Karoq)
Sporty, compact and full of advanced technology, that's how Skoda describes the Vision X Concept. Skoda's Vision X combines a CNG-and petrol-powered engine with an electric motor, providing power delivery and increased agility. The Vision X concept is the company's latest addition to its SUV line-up and will be placed below the new Karoq. Skoda also says that the design language typically seen in Skoda SUV models has been rigorously carried over to a new vehicle segment. The engine is capable of producing 128 bhp of max power and 200 Nm of peak torque and will get a travel range of close to 650kms.
Tata Motors EVision Electric Sedan Concept

One of the most highly anticipated unveils at the Geneva Motor Show was from Tata Motors as the company marked its 20th anniversary this year. And to highlight this, the company showcased the EVision electric sedan concept which is based on the company's new IMPACT 2.0 design philosophy. This new platform also underpins the 45X and H5X concept that were showcased at the Auto Expo 2018 only last month. Built on the Omega architecture, the EVision sedan concept is built on a modified, dedicated Omega EV architecture, a modular, scalable and flexible architecture to address the range of performance attributes for long-range travel.
