The Honda CB200 X is the latest crossover bike based on the 184 cc Honda Hornet 2.0 premium commuter motorcycle. According to Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI), the CB200X has been designed for everyday use as well as for exploring roads less travelled; so, in a sense, the new Honda CB200X can be used for the daily commute on weekdays, as well as to explore life beyond the city on weekends. HMSI describes the Honda CB200X as the "perfect urban explorer." Here's a look at all that you need to know about the new Honda CB200X.

The Honda CB200X has a distinctive design, with adv-inspired bodywork, and design inspired by its bigger sibling, the Honda CB500X

Design

The Honda CB200X is based on the Honda Hornet 2.0, but it has a distinctive design, as well as a range of stylish features, and takes design inspiration from the Honda CB500X. The new CB200X gets full-LED lighting, and The Honda CB200X also features a tall visor, going with the ADV-like styling, and also features standard knuckle covers with integrated LED indicators. The bike features an upswept exhaust, and also features a standard plastic engine bash plate, for some added protection to the engine underbelly. The Honda CB200X has comfortable ergonomics, with a tall handlebar, comfortably positioned footpegs, and small visor for some wind protection.

Tech & Ergonomics

The CB200X features comfortable ergonomics, with mid-positioned foot pegs, and a raised handlebar, inspired from Honda's bigger, higher-end machines, like the Honda CB500X. The long and comfortable split seat is said to offer comfortable seating for both rider and pillion. With a seat height of 810 mm, the Honda CB200X promises to offer an accessible perch.

The fully digital LCD instrument console comes with 5-level adjustable brightness, and offers a long list of features, including gear position indicator, service due indicator and battery voltmeter,

The engine is the same 184.4 cc single-cylinder unit shared with the Honda Hornet 2.0, which makes 17 bhp at 8,500 rpm and 16.1 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm

Engine & Performance

The Honda CB200X is based on the Honda Hornet 2.0, so it shares the same engine, with the exact same state of tune. The 184.4 cc, single-cylinder engine of the Hornet 2.0 puts out 17 bhp at 8,500 rpm and 16.1 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm and is paired to a 5-speed gearbox. The engine gets Honda's programmed fuel injection with 8 on-board sensors which constantly inject optimum fuel and air mixture for better efficiency and performance.

The Honda CB200X shares its engine and chassis with the Honda Hornet 2.0. It gets block pattern tyres and a plastic bash plate for some added capability to take on rough terrain, but it's not a pure off-road bike.

Chassis & Cycle Parts

The Honda CB200X is built around the diamond-type steel frame, which offers both stability and agility. From our experience with the Hornet 2.0, it's quite an agile platform with very good dynamics, and the same can be expected from the Honda CB200X. The alloy wheels are shod with block-pattern tyres, with a 110 mm front tyre and 140 mm rear tyre, and braking is handled by petal discs front and rear with standard ABS.

According to Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India, the Honda CB200X has been designed for everyday use, and for weekend excursions

The motorcycle gets USD fork up front and a monoshock at the rear. Considering the CB200X gets 167 mm ground clearance, it should be enough for minor 'soft-roading' duties that the new bike will be designed to take on, together with the block pattern tyres. With a kerb weight of 147 kg, it should offer a decent package.

Deliveries of the Honda CB200X will begin in the first week of September 2021. Bookings have been announced for Rs. 2,000.

Price & Availability

The Honda CB200X is priced at Rs. 1,44,500 (Ex-showroom), and bookings are already open both online and offline for an amount of Rs. 2,000. Deliveries are expected to begin from September 2021. Right now, the Honda CB200X has no real rival, but in terms of price and positioning, its closest rival is the Hero XPulse 200, which is slightly more off-road oriented, than the Honda CB200X.
