The New York International Auto Show is inarguably the biggest and the grandest motor show in North America and last week, New York welcomed some of the most exciting products to its market. Car-makers too, did not miss the opportunity to showcase new concepts, electric vehicles and much more. We compile a list of concepts, EVs and conventional cars that broke cover at the ongoing New York Motor Show 2018, which you cannot simply miss.
Genesis Essentia Concept

Genesis Essentia is the brand's first battery electric vehicle and features a lightweight carbon-fibre monocoque, multi-motor electric powertrain, and a custom-tailored interior. The front fascia of the Essentia Concept introduces the Genesis crest grille, while air outlets located just behind the front wheels reduce pressure buildup and contribute to reduced drag. The rear of Genesis Essentia Concept houses the flush rear quad lights and highlights the muscles of the rear haunch. The battery pack is housed in the center tunnel in an I-shape structure, as opposed to underneath the passenger compartment. With an estimated 0-to-100kmph time of 3 seconds, Essentia is really quick on the track.
Sixth Generation Nissan Altima

The Altima is one of the most popular Nissan sedans in North America, and the NY Motor Show witnessed the official unwrapping of the sixth generation Nissan Altima. Based on the Nissan Vmotion 2.0 concept, the Altima is sharp and sporty at the same time in terms of its design. Up front, you will find the company's signature V-Motion grille along with the boomerang shaped LED headlamps. The LED tail lamps too get the boomerang treatment. The interior gets a major upgrade with a new 8-inch centre display. Under the hood, the Altima will get two new engine options- a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder engine and a 2.0-litre Variable Compression Turbo.
Volkswagen Atlas Tanoak Pickup Concept

Named after a species of tree native to the Pacific Coast in the US, the Atlas Tanoak is the company's first pickup based on modular transverse matrix architecture. The frontal treatment is more rugged, while the headlights and front bumper are extended into the side profile. The Tanoak concept is 5438mm long, and 401mm longer than the Atlas, which makes it a large midsize pickup by US standards. Under the hood, the Atlas Tanoak concept uses a 3.6-litre V6 engine that produces 276 bhp and 360Nm of torque coupled to an 8-Speed automatic transmission and can sprint from 0 to 100kmph in 8.5 seconds.
Classic MINI Electric

At the New York International Auto Show, MINI showcased the electric version of MINI and has been restored to its original glory. Sadly a one-off, the electric MINI is in-line with company's electric vehicle ambitions for the future. The first electric MINI will however, be a 3-door car which is slated for a 2019 launch. The automaker swapped the original four-cylinder petrol engine for an electric motor and a new battery pack, while retaining the go-kart sentiment related to the original model. The one-off Classic MINI Electric is finished in the bright red paint scheme with white racing stripes and auxiliary lights up front.
Mercedes-AMG C 63 S Coupe

The much awaited Mercedes-AMG C 63 S Coupe was showcased in New York last week. Accompanying the new Mercedes-AMG C 63 S were the C 43 AMG Coupe and the C-Class Cabriolet. The new C 63 AMG, which comes in two trim option- standard and 'S', and comes with cosmetic updates and new features. Up front, the AMG C 63 S Coupe gets new bug-eyed headlamps with LED daytime running lights, redesigned bonnet and a new front bumper. Under the hood is 4.0-litre V8 bi-turbo engine that churns out about 469 bhp in the standard model and about 503 bhp in the S trim. The C63 S accelerates from zero to 100 kmph in 3.9 seconds
Toyota RAV4

Toyota pulled the wraps off its one of the best-selling models, 2019 RAV4 at the New York International Auto Show 2018. In the US so far, Toyota has sold over 400,000 units of the RAV4 last year. Based on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform, the RAV4 gets a longer wheelbase and is also wider and shorter to give it a beefier look. The RAV4 comes new sharper-looked with new LED headlamps and tail lamps. Inside, it gets either a 7-inch or an 8-inch floating infotainment system that comes equipped with Toyota's Entune 3.0 audio system, Apple CarPlay and Amazon Alexa. Under the hood, the RAV4 comes with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine, coupled to a new 8-Speed automatic transmission.
Jaguar F-Pace SVR
(Jaguar F-Pace SVR makes its public debut at the New York Auto Show)
Touted as the fastest and most powerful F-Pace yet - the Jaguar F-Pace SVR broke cover last week. The SVR treatment comes with an enhanced chassis and improved aerodynamics that offer optimum performance in all conditions. The new Jaguar F-Pace SVR comes with a 44 per cent increase in power output, compared to the standard F-Pace. Powering the F-Pace SVR is powered by a 5.0-litre V8 supercharged petrol engine that produces 542 bhp of max power and develops 680 Nm of peak torque. It is capable of doing a 0-100kmph in just 4.3 seconds and has a top speed of 283kmph.
2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback

The newest kid on the block is the Corolla hatchback from Toyota. Based on the same TNGA platform as the RAV4, the Corolla hatchback underpins the Prius as well and is expected to get a sedan version soon. Up front, the Corolla hatch gets a massive grille and new LED headlamps along with the DRLs. Moreover, the rear end of the hot hatch gets new wraparound LED taillights. Inside, it gets a massive floating touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Powering the Corolla hatch is the new 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that replaces the 1.8-litre unit. The unit will reportedly be paired to a 6-speed manual and a CVT unit.
