Piaggio Vehicles Pvt Ltd. (PVPL) India has announced the introduction of its Ape' electric three-wheeler range in Hyderabad. The company currently offers three electric three-wheelers under the Ape' Electrik brand - the Ape e-City FX, and Ape e-Xtra FX, which comes with fixed electric batteries, and the Ape e-City that comes with a swappable battery. The electric 3-wheelers were unveiled in presence of Puvvada Ajay Kumar, Transport Minister, Government of Telangana, at Transport Bhavan, Hyderabad. Also, present on the occasion were State Transport Commissioner, M. R. M. Rao & Principal Secretary for Industries & Commerce, Jayesh Ranjan.

Commenting on the launch of the new electric three-wheelers, Saju Nair, EVP and Head of Commercial Vehicle Business, Piaggio India Pvt Ltd. said, "Hyderabad being one of the biggest metro cities in India, inter-city last-mile transportation business is one of the important sources of income for a lot of locals and our new range of electric vehicles will definitely help in increase the earnability due to its low cost of operation & superior range. The new Ape E-City FX electric rickshaw comes with both fixed battery setup and swappable battery
Piaggio, which until earlier this year only sold the Ape e-City with swappable batteries, launched the FX range, featuring a fixed battery February 2021. In addition to the e-City rickshaw for the passenger carrier space, the company also launched its first electric three-wheeler for the cargo segment, with the Ape e-Xtra FX. The new Ape E-City FX electric rickshaw comes with a 48-volt Lithium-Ion battery that powers an electric motor to produce 5.44 kWh (7.3 bhp) and a peak torque of 29 Nm. It offers a range of up to 110 km. The Ape E-Xtra FX comes with a bigger 8 kWh Lithium-Ion battery that powers the electric motor to produce 9.55 kWh, which is equivalent to 12.8 bhp and develop 45 Nm of peak torque. The Ape E-Xtra come with a range of up to 90 km, with a top speed of 45 kmph.

Speaking at the occasion, the States Transport Minister, Puvvada Ajay Kumar said, "It gives me immense pleasure to unveil this new electric product range from Piaggio Vehicles.
