The Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster is based on the Bonneville Bobber platform, so it shares the same engine, chassis, cycle parts and design are more or less similar. But there's more to it being just a Bobber with a pillion seat. Sure, the Speedmaster gets a rear seat, rear mudguard as well as chrome grab rails at the rear, but the steering geometry is slightly different with a slightly smaller rake angle. And the ergonomics are slightly different as well, with beach style handlebars with newly designed and repositioned palm grips. The rider footpegs are also forward set giving the rider a laid-back, relaxed, riding position.

The Triumph Speedmaster was originally launched in 2002 and was in fact, based on the Triumph Bonneville America. The America itself was something like the current Bonneville Bobber. The name 'Speedmaster' though was first used by American importers of Triumph Motorcycles in the 1960s for the Bonneville T120R of that era.

Yes, the Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster shares its engine with the Bonneville Bobber as well as the Bonneville T120. But the state of tune is slightly different than the T120, with the engine tuned for more low- and mid-range grunt rather than pure top-end performance. The 1,200 cc, parallel-twin engine makes 76 bhp at 6,100 rpm, and 106 Nm at 4,000 rpm. Chassis, swingarm, brakes and suspension are all shared with the Bonneville Bobber. But the Speedmaster gets twin 310 mm discs at the front wheel, which is also a smaller 16-inch wheel, but shod with a fatter tyre.

The Speedmaster gets a few more features than the Bonneville Bobber. Standard equipment includes anti-lock brakes (ABS), switchable traction control, ride-by-wire with two riding modes, as well as standard cruise control. The Speedmaster also gets a larger 12-litre fuel tank than the Bobber's 9.1-litre fuel tank. Also available are more than 120 custom parts and accessories to personalise the bike further, and two factory inspiration kits - 'Highway' and 'Maverick', which offer different custom parts like a windscreen, leather panniers, flat handlebars and so on. The Speedmaster also gets twin 310 mm discs on the front wheel and gets a smaller 16-inch wheel at the front. The Bobber gets a 19-inch front wheel.
