Triumph Tiger Sport 660 India Launch: Price Expectation
Key Highlights
  • The Triumph Tiger Sport 660 sports tourer is all set to go on sale
  • The Tiger Sport 660 shares its underpinnings with the Trident 660
  • The Tiger Sport 660 will take on the Kawasaki Versys 650 & Suzuki V-Strom

Triumph Motorcycles is all set to introduce the new Tiger Sport 660 on March 29, 2022. The new sports tourer is the latest entry-level offering from the bike maker and promises the likeness of the Tiger range with the ease of riding the Trident 660. That's a combination that a lot of buyers will appreciate, especially those looking to upgrade from smaller bikes to their first big motorcycle. The Triumph Tiger Sport 660 shares its underpinnings with the Trident 660, albeit with a number of changes aimed to make the motorcycle more comfortable to ride over long distances.

The Triumph Tiger Sport 660 gets a half-fairing with LED headlamps, tall windscreen and a revised subframe

And that makes for a long list of changes over the Trident 660. The Triumph Tiger Sport 660 will come with a half-fairing and an adjustable windshield. It will also get dual LED headlamps, long-travel suspension, a revised subframe with more mounting points and even a larger 17-litre fuel tank over the Trident's 14-litre unit. The riding posture is more relaxed with a wider handlebar, centre-set footpegs and a contoured seat intended for long hours on the saddle. The instrument console is also different with a split LCD and TFT display that comes with the optional MyTriumph connectivity system. The bike tips the scales at 206 kg while the fuel consumption stands at 22.2 kmpl (claimed).

Power will come from the familiar 660 cc inline three-cylinder engine tuned for 80 bhp at 10,250 rpm and 64 Nm at 6,250 rpm. Performance is expected to be similar to the Trident 660 that's free-revving and inviting for newer riders. The bike will come with two riding modes - Road and Rain. Other components will include USD front forks, a monoshock at the rear, and Nissin brakes at either end with dual-channel ABS. The Tiger Sport 660 is likely to arrive in three colours - Lucerne Blue and Sapphire Black; Korosi Red and Graphite; and Graphite and Black.

With all these changes, the Triumph Tiger Sport 660 is sure to command a premium over the Trident 660. And we believe that the middleweight sports tourer is likely to be priced around the Rs. 8.5-9 lakh (ex-showroom) mark. That should be seen as value-friendly pricing considering the on-road price should be just under the Rs. 10 lakh mark. Moreover, the bike will be positioned right between its rivals with the Kawasaki Versys 650 positioned at the lower end priced at Rs. 7.15 lakh, while the Suzuki V-Strom 650 XT sits at the top and is priced at Rs. 8.84 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom India).
