About Benelli Leoncino

The 2021 Benelli Leoncino 500 is an urban scrambler motorcycle, powered by a 500 cc parallel-twin engine, and featuring a neo-retro design. The Leoncino 500 has been updated to meet the latest Bharat Stage VI (BS6) emission regulations, and is available in two colours, Steel Grey and Leoncino Red. The bike with the Steel Grey colour option is priced at Rs. 4.70 Lakhs (Ex-showroom), while the Leoncino Red colour option is the more expensive one, at Rs. 4.80 Lakhs (Ex-showroom). Compared to the BS4 model, Benelli India has decreased the price of the Leoncino 500 by almost Rs. 20,000.

The Benelli Leoncino gets a DOHC, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled, 500 cc engine, which produces maximum power output of 47 bhp at 8,500 rpm and maximum torque of 46 Nm at 6,000 rpm. The 8-valve motor is mated to a slick-shifting 6-speed gearbox, and the engine is mounted on a steel trellis frame. Internationally, the Leoncino 500 is available in two variants - Street and Trail, with different wheel types, allow and wire spoke. In India, only the street version is offered on sale, with 17-inch alloy wheels shod with tubeless tyres, which include a 120/70-ZR17 section tyre at the front, 160/60-ZR17 section tyre at the rear. The front suspension features an upside-down 50mm fork, while the rear is controlled by a laterally mounted, rebound and pre-load adjustable shock absorber. Brakes include radially-mounted 4-piston callipers gripping 320mm discs upfront. The rear is taken care of by a single-piston floating calliper with a 260mm disc, with dual-channel Switchable ABS.

The Benelli Leoncino is the scrambler-styled neo-retro model from Benelli, and has no direct rival in the market. The Leoncino uses the same engine as the TRK 502. It pumps out 47 bhp and 46 Nm and offers a more affordable option to the likes of the Ducati Scrambler. In India though, models like the Royal Enfield 650 Twins and the KTM 390 Duke could rival it in the Indian market, in terms of performance and specifications, and at a substantially less price.
