Yamaha FZ-X Launched In India; Prices Begin at Rs. 1.17 Lakh

The Yamaha FZ-X is offered in two variants, with the standard variant priced at Rs. 1,16,800, and the top-spec variant priced at Rs. 1,19,800.

India Yamaha has launched the new Yamaha FZ-X, a neo-retro commuter motorcycle based on the 149 cc Yamaha FZ series. Prices for the new Yamaha FZ-X begin at Rs. 1,16,800 (Ex-showroom). The Yamaha FZ-X gets some all-new features like the Bluetooth-enabled Yamaha Connect app with smartphone connectivity. The FZ-X is offered in two variants, with the standard variant priced at Rs. 1,16,800 (Ex-showroom), while the FZ-X with smartphone connectivity is priced at Rs. 1,19,800 (Ex-showroom). The new FZ-X with the Yamaha Connect App offers a long list of features through the Communication Control Unit, including incoming call alerts, SMS alerts on the instrument console, and other features on the app, including parking location, battery charge indicator, as well as fuel consumption and malfunction alerts, as well as service and oil change reminders.

The Yamaha FZ-X has been launched in two variants

Speaking at the launch, Motofumo Shitara, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India Group of Companies, said, "We stay committed to offer best of our products to the Indian two-wheeler audience and FZ-X is one step further in that direction. Today, we announce the launch of the all-new FZ-X, Yamaha's first neo-retro offering for the Indian market that provides the perfect balance of practicality, durability, technology and style. It is introduced to cater to a larger group of customers that want to Ride Free and enjoy Yamaha's leading technology, performance, and style, without compromising on the comfort required for daily commute. Going forward, we will continue to offer more such exciting products and experiences to our customers in India."

Deliveries for the Yamaha FZ-X will begin from late June 2021

Deliveries for the new Yamaha FZ-X are going to start from June 2021, and the bike will be available at Yamaha dealerships soon. Unlike the naked street Yamaha FZ, the new FZ-X offers an upright riding position with a standard engine bash plate, LED headlight with LED daytime running lights, as well as LED taillight. The engine though is the same 149 cc, single-cylinder engine so it will likely have the same specifications, with maximum power output of 12.4 bhp at 7,250 rpm and 13.3 Nm of peak torque at 5,500 rpm. The basic frame is the same as the Yamaha FZ models. The Yamaha FZ-X has a kerb weight of 139 kg.

The Yamaha FZ-X gets block pattern tyres, an upright riding stance and Bluetooth connectivity on the top-spec variant

Other features include a bi-functional LED headlight with daytime running light (DRL), a newly designed negative LCD console with power socket, and an LED taillight. The bike also gets a side stand engine cut-off switch, single-channel ABS from Bosch and block pattern tubeless tyres on the 17-inch wheels. The FZ-X is available in three attractive colours, Metallic Blue, Matt Copper and Matt Black.

The Yamaha FZ-X is based on the 149 cc engine and same frame shared with the Yamaha FZ and FZ-S

The Yamaha FZ-X has a neo-retro design language, and according to India Yamaha, there's been market research done, where there was consumer demand for a robust and rugged 150 cc motorcycle, suited for both touring as well as city use. According to Yamaha, the new FZ-X comes with fully-loaded features including connectivity and premium features which will likely make it an attractive option in the 150 cc segment. The Yamaha FZ-X will be available for online booking and purchase, as well as doorstep delivery. India Yamaha will also be introducing an experiential touring activity along with the launch of the FZ-X.
