Royal Enfield Himalayan: Old vs New
Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Prices Increased By Up To Rs. 16,000
The Royal Enfield Himalayan was updated last in 2021 and is still one of the most rugged propositions from the brand.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan comes with a similar design as the previous version although some additions have been made. The Tripper screen is now a part of the motorcycle and Royal Enfield has tweaked the windscreen as a result. This is taller and wider and offers improved protection as well. The metal frame that runs with the fuel tank has also been revamped and does not hinder the rider’s knees any longer. The company has also made use of new seat foam while the seat height has been smartly kept at 800mm. The rear rack is now shorter with a metal plate on the top which should keep your things safer. Fit and finish remains top-notch as expected although there are some low-quality components. There are three new color options including the Mirage Silver, Granite Black, and Pine Green. The Himalayan may also be customized by choosing from multiple accessories.
Pros
Cons
The Royal Enfield Himalayan definitely is a good bike, and the more time you spend time with it, the more you begin appreciating it. Sure, it has its weaknesses, and more power, less weight, better brakes et al, would have worked wonders to make it even better. But eventually, what matters is that it's a simple motorcycle that will charm you with its simplicity, whether you're the city commuter, relaxed highway cruiser, or trudging along broken trails.
Royal Enfield Himalayan is available in 6 different colors namely Dune Brown, Pine Green, Gravel Grey, Granite Black, Sleet Black & Glacier Blue.

Detailed Comparision - |
The Royal Enfield Himalayan is one of the best budget adventure bikes in India since its debut in 2016. The Himalayan is considered a good budget ADV because of its 411 cc engine and the maximum power and torque it generates.
While there are other small adventure bikes in the market, like the Hero XPulse, which is comparatively affordable but has a much smaller engine displacement. Conversely, when you compare the BMW G310 GS and KTM 390 Adventure, they too are ideal adventure bikes but are significantly more expensive than the Himalayan.
The latest model of the adventure bike, the 2021 Himalayan, is the successor of the BS-VI model and is Royal Enfield’s solution to the feedback it received from its customers about the adventure bike.
The Himalayan starts at an ex-showroom price of ₹ 1,94,641 for the base variant, and for the top variant, the price begins at ₹ 2,08,520.
The Royal Enfield adventure bike is available in six variants. The two base variants include the Himalayan Gravel Grey and Himalayan Mirage Silver, whereas the two standard variants are the Himalayan Lake Blue and Himalayan Rock Red. The top variants include Himalayan Granite Black and Himalayan Pine Green.
Apart from the BS-VI update, the adventure bike has also received three new colour schemes, Mirage Silver, Pine Green, and Granite Black, along with the existing three, Rock Red, Lake Blue, and Gravel Grey. In addition, the Snow and Sleet Grey options have been discontinued.
The motorcycle gets a 411 cc BS6 engine. It produces a peak torque of 32 Nm at 4,500 RPM and generates a maximum power of 24.3 bhp at 6,500 RPM. The engine from Royal Enfield displaces more than 400cc. It is a single-cylinder, four-stroke, air-cooled engine.
It has a fuel tank capacity of 15 litres. Royal Enfield claims that the bike offers a mileage of almost 40 kmpl. However, its consumers have reviewed that the Himalayan can quickly provide a mileage of more than 35 kmpl. Hence, you can expect to ride more than 450 kilometres in one go with a full tank.
In terms of weight, the new enhancements have made the bike heavier. The Himalayan now weighs 199 kg. This naturally makes it a little inconvenient for the riders.
The 2021 model is equipped with the Tripper Navigation system from Royal Enfield, which is powered by Google Maps. The system works in alliance with the Royal Enfield app to offer turn-by-turn directions to the riders. Other noticeable changes include the upgrade in the ergonomics of the seat, the front rack, rear carrier and the windscreen.
The adventure bike has retained the switchable Anti-lock Braking System or ABS, a hazard light switch and the halogen headlight. The gearbox is a five-speed unit.
The braking system includes a 220mm disc at the rear and a 300mm disc at the front coupled with the standard dual-channel ABS. A rear mono-shock and 41mm telescopic forks at the front carry on the suspension duties to ease up the ride.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan primarily competes with the BMW G310 GS and the KTM 390 Adventure, among other adventure bikes in India.
