Detailed Comparision - |
Primarily a sportier version of Liva, the hatchback crossover gets brawny exterior with several SUV-like features such as thick body cladding, skid plates etc. Inside, it gets additional kit missing on the regular Liva. Available in petrol and diesel fuel options, it shares engine set up with Liva putting out same power & torque. It also gets a 1.5 litre, petrol unit missing in the Liva line-up.
A bolder front profile and smartly styled flanks make Ertios Cross appear visibly better than the regular model. Styling bits such as plastic cladding all around the body, skid plates and roof rails give it SUV-ish appeal. Dimensionally, it is slightly bigger compared to Liva measuring 120mm longer, 40mm taller and 45mm wider.
Altered dimensions infer marginally bigger cabin with more room for passengers. Compared to the regular model, Etios Cross has a more upmarket cabin. It also gets a bunch of additional equipment inside the cabin.
There is an option for two petrol units and one diesel engine. The 1.2 litre, four cylinder petrol unit is borrowed from Liva outputting 79bhp and 104Nm, as opposed to the 1.5 litre, four pot powerplant churning out 89bhp and 132Nm. Diesel variants source power from the 1.5 litre, four cylinder mill putting out 67bhp and 170Nm.

Addition of elements like grille with guard, roof rail, indicators on fog lamps and ORVMs, diamond cut alloy wheels and body cladding reinforce the sporty stance. Interior is equipped with features including 3-spoke steering wheel, 7 bottle holders, front & rear door pockets etc.
The 1.2 litre and 1.5 litre petrol engines deliver 18.16km/l and 16.78km/l respectively. Diesel powered variants are claimed to return 23.59km/.
It gets an integrated 2 DIN audio system with CD/MP3 player, AM/FM, USB portAUX-In and Bluetooth.
Stopping power comes from ventilated disc brakes at front axle and drum brakes at rear axle. It shares the suspension set up with Liva with MacPherson Strut forks at front and torsion beam at rear.
Safety provisions on the Etios Cross are dual SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, removable head rests, seat belts in front & rear, child restraint system (ISOFIX & tether anchor), immobilizer and keyless entry.
It packs in a host of comfort gizmos like air conditioner with heater, power windows with driver side auto down, electric power steering with tilt function, central locking, cooled glove-box, 12V front power outlet, adjustable headrests in front & rear, height adjuster for driver’s seat, rear defogger, steering mounted audio controls and power-operated & retractable ORVMs.
The hatchback based crossover segment hasn’t picked momentum in India and offers only a handful of models. In this space, Etios Corss crosses swords with the likes of Volkswagen Cross Polo, Fiat Avventura and Hyundai i20 Active.
