Inspired by new ultra-thin solar panels developed for satellites, a project led by Toyota Motor Corp is experimenting with a sun-powered Prius that it hopes will one day require no plugging in. In the Japanese government-funded demonstration project, Toyota engineers fitted solar panels designed by Sharp Corp to the hood, roof, rear window and spoiler to see how much juice the sun can generate. The electricity from the panels goes directly to the drive battery, so the Prius can charge while moving or when parked.
Toyota has officially unveiled the Toyota Prius TRD edition, giving the popular hybrid vehicle a more sporty and aggressive look and it's based on the 2019 Toyota Prius facelift, which was revealed at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
Toyota Motor Corp said on Wednesday it planned to recall around 1.03 million vehicles, including its gasoline-hybrid Prius model, in Japan, North America, Europe and other regions due to an issue with the engine wire harness which can pose a fire risk.
Toyota had filed a suit against Prius Auto Industries in the Delhi High Court back in 2009, claiming that the goods manufactured and sold by the defendants bore the plaintiff's registered 'Toyota', 'Toyota Innova', 'Toyota Device' and 'Prius' trademarks, thereby resulting in infringement of these trademarks.
The fourth generation Toyota Prius Hybrid has been launched in the country priced at Rs. 38.96 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the single Z8 variant. The new generation model was launched internationally last year and was also showcased by the Japanese carmaker at the 2016 Auto Expo in India. The car is on display at Toyota dealerships across the country, while bookings have also commenced for the fully imported model.
