The Toyota Taisor will essentially be a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, and will be powered by the same 1.2 litre K series petrol engine
Maruti Suzuki India sells close to 13,500 units of the Fronx every month, a close second to the company’s best-selling Nexa product, the Baleno.
This new edition brings cosmetic changes worth Rs 43,000 in the form of accessories.
Finalists for the 2024 World Car of the Year Awards include the BYD Seal, Ford Bronco, Kia EV9, Hyundai Santa Fe, and Volvo EX30
Launched in April 2023, the Baleno-based crossover has also helped Maruti Suzuki double its market share in the SUV segment in the country.
Unlike the model sold here, the South African spec Fronx is offered with the bigger 1.5-litre VVT petrol engine that’s mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed autobox.
The company also has a massive backlog of 3,55,000 units.
Available only in two entry-level variants - Sigma and Delta
The brand has already shipped the first batch of 556 vehicles to sail from Mundra, Mumbai and Pipavav ports to foreign markets
Last month, Maruti Suzuki India’s total sales stood at 1,59,418 units, which is a 2.2 per cent growth compared to 1,55,857 sold in June 2022.
The difference between the Fronx 1.0-litre Turbo Delta Plus and the equivalent 1.2-litre, naturally-aspirated trim is a full Rs 1 lakh.
