Complaint: The product is having a plastic(oil filter) at the bottom chase. But this was never updated at time of purchase rather this should have been highlighted with the risk. Back ground : I was on a family vacation in my Triber vehicle to Karnataka - Chikmangalur on 18-Jan-2020. As I return from (hebbe falls), it seems the bottom of my vehicle is hit by stone around 7 PM in the night where I couldn't notice at that point of time. As I drive by having fun with family, the car got stopped and it didn't start again. I was shocked and couldn't understand the reason. I called nearby Renault RSA and with their help my vehicle taken to Renault Shimoga Show room (Shreya Renault). The trip is completely spoiled and I sent back the family by arranging alternate vehicle and I decided to stay back to get my vehicle the very next day. Here comes the heart of the story where I heard from show room that vehicle bottom (oil filter) is damaged and as a consequence there is some problem in Vehicle engine & Starter. I was very disappointed but convinced myself stating it's a brand new vehicle and I have warranty cover as well as insurance protection (Bumper to bumper). Another shock for me is when I understand from show room the Insurance is rejected (stating engine protection was not included though no one talked to me about this at the time of vehicle purchase) and warranty (which I heard covers for 12 months minimum) also rejected from Renault. Now, I have to pay the cost of 50k to take back my new vehicle by solving the engine issue. Show room suggested to go for new engine for 1.5 Lakh cost of my own. Now, I decided to take it up with Renault directly expecting a remedy for the above issue. How come the product is having plastic at the bottom (No other products do have this). Is it something because of the product cost to earn customers? I understand there is a additional protection to cover that plastic product in the bottom which the dealer failed to highlight and their focus is only on sales and NOT customer satisfaction. I hope that is not the case with Renault and you will value the Customer.

Triber's engine is very powerfull. It's not kwid's 1 litre engine. it's an ENERGY innovation engine combined with dual vvt. I did a test drive, with 6 people on board, with ac on. Pulled easily in 2nd gear from 7kmph. 35-100+ in 4th gear was also easy. Ride and handling is a benchmark. Renault was supplying engines to Rolls Royce. In India, Renault-Nissan provide engines to Benz A class vehicles. Think about their potential. Renault being one of the world's best automobile company, has given a superb car Triber for India. Well-done Renault.

Purchased a silver Renault Triber RxT model on Sep 04, 2019. And since then there a handful of typologically different issues started to emerge. It start with AC malfunction on 4th day, where all of a sudden AC of the car stopped working and it was the first of the many times that this vehicle was taken for repair (on 4th day from delivery) Next was on 6th day, the engine gave in for overheating with the vehicle being super hot even in a couple of kms run. Engine error appeared on the MID. Again, vehicle was taken to workshop and some fuse replaced in engine under warranty. On 10th day, at red lights when we turned off the engine, it didn't start back at all. It was totally dead. Super humiliating for us wherein we were pushing away our newly bought car in middle of street manually. Overall super annoyed with multiple problems that emerged in a short time in newly purchased Triber. Renault doesn't seem to perfected the engine at all. It has the worst driving experience. The cabin is too noisy and creates a lot of annoying rattling sound. Build is poor. The car vibrates a lot when AC is on. The space optimization in this car is the only plus i see. Rest it scores negative on all aspects. There are few fundamental technical problems that Renault seems to have totally ignored here in triber in trying to make it a value proposition in the Indian auto market. All in all, please avoid buying this vehicle just by getting lured by the value proposition it offers and on overlooking the fundamentals of any vehicle.

1000 cc dual VVT engine has enough power to take my family of 7 anywhere. We can all travel together now. Upgrading from 1086 cc santro 97 model to Triber was indeed a good decision. Anyone driving a car more than 1000 cc will definitely find the engine slower. Triber is the best MUV for family who have small budget but big car dreams.????

Renault Triber Expert Review

Renault Triber

The Renault Triber is one of the most affordable and practical seven-seater options for buyers while adhering to the sub-4m guidelines at the same time.

How is the design?

The Renault Triber carries a refreshing design which is well-proportioned and looks smart from most angles. The design is complemented with the dual-tone color choices and also the LED indicators for the ORVMs alongside. The Renault Triber looks pleasing on the road, especially up front, while the rear gets attractive tail lamps as well. The overall slant and stance are neatly done by the company. Customers in the segment may appreciate the Renault Triber for its looks.

How does it perform?

Petrol

1 litre

71 BHP

96 Nm

The Renault Triber comes with a naturally aspirated 1.0 litre engine that makes 71 BHP and 96 Nm of maximum torque. It also gets 5-speed manual and AMT choices for buyers. The AMT offers good performance while driving in the city, with more performance around the middle and bottom and overtaking is also easier. On the highway, the Renault Triber may feel slightly underpowered. The engine does not come with the necessary punch for swiftly overtaking other vehicles and it does require more work at your end. The CVT option with the 1.0 litre turbo engine from the Renault Kiger will be a welcome addition to the Triber.

How’s the mileage?

  • Petrol Manual- 20 kmpl
  • Petrol Automatic- 18.2 kmpl

How’s the driving experience?

The Renault Triber offers reasonably good handling and comfort. Drivability is also good along with overall visibility. It has tuned the suspension system neatly and the car can take potholes and rough roads seamlessly in most cases. However, the Triber can sometimes feel a little sluggish over rough patches. Overall, the driving and handling experience of the Renault Triber is good enough for buyers in this segment.

What’s the interior like?

The interiors of the Renault Triber are extremely spacious with four modes for seating along with several combinations as well. There is good seating in the third row and this surpasses expectations of what it could have been at this price point. The Triber also comes with steering mounted controls and height adjustment for the driver’s seat. There is also an 8-inch touch screen infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There is also an LED instrument console with a push start/stop button and cooled central console storage. Wireless phone charging could have been included for the Triber as well. Overall space is decent, especially in the second row.

Tech and infotainment

The Renault Triber comes with the 8-inch infotainment unit with a touch screen and wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. There is an LED instrument console along with cooled storage and the push start/stop button alongside.

Safety Equipment

The Renault Triber comes with four airbags, ABS with EBD, and a rear view camera. The Triber got four stars in its Global NCAP crash tests.

Which variant to buy?

The Renault Triber comes with four variants including the attractively priced RXE which comes with basic features like electric power steering, air conditioner, front power windows, ABS, dual airbags, rear parking sensors, speed alert systems, and seatbelt reminder. The RXL comes with tilt adjust for the steering wheel column, Bluetooth and USB audio system, second AC unit and 2nd and 3rd row air conditioning vents along with remote central locking, body colored door handles and outside mirrors with full wheel covers. The RXT comes with rear and front skid plates, electrically adjustable outside mirrors, roof rails, rear power windows, the touch screen infotainment unit with connectivity features, cooled lower glove box, 12-volt power socket, and more. The RXZ comes with additional equipment like LED DRLs, two side airbags and two tweeters along with the smart access card, reverse camera, push-button start, rear wiper and defogger and the third row power socket. The RXE is basic while the RXL does not get as many features as well. The RXT is the value pick in this regard. The RXZ offers more safety features and you can consider it if you have the budget.

Which cars compete in this segment?

The Renault Triber competes with the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga in its petrol guise along with the Datsun Go+ and there are other hatchbacks at this price point including the Maruti Suzuki WagonR and Ford Figo that may compete with it as well. The Ertiga is the only one without a sub-4m length here and the biggest car in the category. Yet, the Triber is a wider vehicle while being the widest and longest compact car. The boot space of the Triber is impressive and the WagonR is the tallest overall. The Triber has the least-powerful engine in the category. The Triber does have an advantage in terms of its price. It makes for a good overall package in terms of the features and space that you get.

Verdict (Value for Money)

The Renault Triber comes with an aggressive price tag, multiple seating options and good space, along with decent features and looks. This makes it a compelling option for the money. It offers excellent value for buyers while being compact enough to maneuver in tight spaces. It is a great city option especially if you have a big family or need to transport more people on a regular basis. If Renault can equip the Triber with the turbo petrol engine and CVT combination from the Kiger, then it will transform into an even more appealing proposition for buyers.

Pros & Cons of Triber

Final Verdict on Triber

It has USPs many of you may not think you need - but actually do. And so while it may not seem like an appealing enough car at the start, it's the kind I suspect that will grow on you. It is practical, cavernously roomy, and yet has quick cooling cabin, it's efficient; and while the engine is no fire starter, it certainly is not underpowered.

All You Need to Know About the Triber

There are many additional updates about Renault Triber that you need to know. They are:

The launch of the all-new turbo-petrol variant of Renault Triber has been postponed to 2020. The vehicle is still not completely developed according to the CEO of Renault India, Venkatram Mamillapalle.

The new Renault Triber will be launched with a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. It is similar to the powerful engine of Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite.

Since the time Triber was launched in India, more than 75,000 units have been sold out. This marks a new milestone for the Renault manufacturer.

The Renault Triber is finally here and the French automaker's all-new model has been designed and developed specifically for the Indian market. The Triber aims to be a versatile vehicle for those looking to have space, features and an imposing appearance while being on a budget. Compact multi-seaters are a yet to be explored segment except for the Datsun GO+, but Renault is looking to into this potential by bringing positioning the Triber as a young and versatile premium hatchback, instead of an MPV. Here's all you need to know about the newly unveiled Renault Triber:

Renault's all-new offering for India is its smallest multi-seater yet but instead of identifying it as an MPV, the French automaker is calling it a premium hatchback with a unique twist. The Triber measures under four metres, not too different from a conventional hatchback but offers a third row of seating that isn't too popularly available. The Renault Triber has been co-developed by the automaker's facilities in India and France and has been specifically designed for the Indian market.

The Renault Triber is based on the CMF-A platform that also underpins the Kwid in the automaker's line-up. The Triber though is substantially larger than its hatchback sibling and measures 3990 mm in length, 1739 mm in width, 1643 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2636 mm. The model ground clearance stands at 182 mm, while the kerb weight is 947 kg.

On the design front, the Renault Triber carries a familiar design language that has been evolved by the company. The model sits tall and gets a bold front with a large triple-edge chrome grille. The car also comes with a projector lens, while there are signature Renault design features such as LED daytime running lights circled in chrome and black headlamp masks. The bumper gets skid plates for the assertive look that extends to the rear as well, with the doors and arches covered in body cladding. At the rear, the Triber gets two-part eagle beak tail lamps that give a wider appearance to the vehicle.

The Triber gets a clutter-free layout with a dual-tone themed cabin. The interior is finished in black and beige colour schemes that extend from the dashboard to the seats, with silver accents on the steering wheel and air vents. The large screen takes prominence on the centre console, while the overall design has been intended for a simple look and to liberate more space. All three rows get 12V charging sockets that further add to the comfortability of the passengers. A small quarter-glass just after the C-pillar will help improve the sense of space in the third row.

The Renault Triber is loaded on the feature front-most prominent of which will be the 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The system will provide access to a host of apps and also playback videos by played via the USB. The car will also get an LED instrument console with an 8.9 cm LCD screen, along with a start-stop button, and a hands-free system that offers features like auto-lock function. The car gets air conditioning with all vents for all three rows, while there is a cooled glovebox and storage compartment as well to keep those liquids cool.

Concerning the safety tech, the Triber will come with four airbags - driver, passenger and front sides; a segment-first, while also adding three-point seatbelts for all three rows. The car will get the speed alert system, rear parking sensors and seatbelt reminder system as standard to comply with the new norms and will also come with a reverse camera on offer.

The Renault Triber promises best-in-class roominess with the front seat couple distance at 710 mm, second-row legroom up to 200 mm and third-row legroom up to 91 mm. The roof height of 834 mm also makes it accommodating for tall passengers, especially in the third row that gets armrests fitted in the body panels.

Renault says the new Triber offers more than 100 different seat configurations with the independent seats in the third row removable. The different configurations include a five-seater with the third row completely removed to increase boot capacity, while the Tribe mode sees all the seven seats being used. There's also the Surfing mode that lets you remove one of the two independent seats from the third row to store uniquely shaped objects like a surfboard. Lastly, the camping mode will let you get rid of the second and the third row in favour of seating for two and a huge cargo area.

Speaking of storage capacity, the Renault Triber offers a storage compartment up to 31 litres and boot space up to 625 litres in the five-seater configuration. Boot capacity revises to 320 litres in the six-seater configuration and 84 litres in the seven-seater configuration. The Triber also comes with functional roof rails that have a load-carrying capacity of 50 kg.

Power on the Renault Triber will come from the new 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol energy engine that is tuned for 71 bhp and 96 Nm of peak torque. The new motor will come paired with the 5-speed manual and EASY-R AMT options. This engine is completely new to Renault India's line-up and is a global powertrain used Groupe Renault's B-Segment cars in Europe and South America like Clio and Sandero. The new motor comes with a dual VVT system that allows optimum response at all revs. Torque is available from the low range as well which improves acceleration and in-city driveability. Renault says the new motor offers the right balance between performance and economy, as well as low maintenance costs.

The Renault Triber will be produced at the automaker's facility in Chennai, Tamil Nadu with sales to begin later this year. The automaker is yet to confirm the timeline of the launch but we expect the Triber to hit showrooms close to the festive season. Upon launch, the new multi-seater offering will take on the Datsun GO+ as well as the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R based seven-seater model that is also in the works and is slated for launch sometime this year. Prices will be revealed closer to launch, but going by Renault's commitment, they do seem to be competitive.
