What Mercedes has done to make this a reality is nothing short of remarkable. Don't forget that this isn't the very quiet S-Class. Rubber bearings dampen vibrations from the fan motor and prevent them from entering the cabin. The air ducts have an additional coating to reduce airflow noise, and the boot's rubber-lined, leather-clad parcel tray also has multiple layers of insulation to prevent reverberation.

This latest iteration of the company's self-driving technology incorporates the dampers alongside the sensor-controlled Airmatic three-chamber air springs used in the company's earlier cars with the ability to "read" the road ahead. So not only do the springs self-adjust prior to hitting a bump or dip in the road, but the dampers do as well. And each wheel does it on its own! Mercedes asserts that their system is unique in its ability to independently adjust the spring and damping forces at each wheel while also reducing roll, pitch, and lift.
