While the Toyota Etios twins have been discontinued in India, the budget models continue to be sold in Brazil and now come with a new feature-packed touchscreen infotainment system and more safety equipment as part of the standard kit.
The Brazil-made Toyota Etios has bagged a 4-star rating for Adult and Child Occupant Protection in a recently conducted crash test by the Latin New Car Assessment Programme (Latin NCAP). The result was the same for both the Etios Hatchback as well as the Sedan version.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor achieved a sales milestone for the Etios Series in India. The company has sold 4 lakh cars of the Etios series consisting of Platinum Etios, Etios Liva and Etios Cross. Liva sales continue to witness a positive growth of 10 per cent in April to September 2018 as compared to same period last year. The Etios Series of cars was first launched in India in 2011 and has been selling both for personal use as also for fleet. Etios series has been constantly updated with refreshed new features, enhanced appeal, unbeatable safety features with the launch of the "Platinum Etios and Etios Liva" in September 2016. The company has also launched the limited edition of Etios Cross called Etios Cross X- Edition in September last year to give its sales a push.
Toyota has launched a limited edition of the Etios Liva hatchback in India. The new limted edition variant of the car will be available only in a white and black two tone paintjob but with get red accents all around. While the Etios Liva with a two tone paintjob has been available for a while now, the red accents seem to be inspired from the Toyota Yaris GRMN hot hatchback available in some international markets. The changes on the car are visual only and the new Toyota Etios Liva Limited Edition is available with both a petrol and diesel engine. The petrol variant is priced at Rs 6.50 lakh while the diesel variant is priced at Rs 7.65 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The limited edition will be available only on the VX variants of both petrol and diesel engines.
Toyota India has recently introduced a new Inferno Orange shade for the Etios Liva dual tone variant. Available in both, petrol and diesel trim options, the dual tone Etios Liva is offered in four variants, priced from Rs. 5.85 lakh to Rs. 7.44 lakh.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor has silently introduced the new Etios Platinum Limited Edition sporting more premium features. The Toyota Etios Platinum edition is avaiable on the VX trim with the petrol priced at Rs. 7.84 lakh, while the diesel is priced at Rs. 8.94 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom Delhi). The Platinum limited edition premium touches to the sedan including a new paint scheme, dual-tone upholstery and additional infotainment features.
Two of the five cars recently tested by the Global NCAP and AA South Africa for their crashworthiness, were India-made Toyota Etios and Datsun GO+ subcompact MPV. While the Toyota Etios hatchback scored a 4-star rating in adult occupancy and the Datsun GO+ subcompact MPV scored a 1-star safety rating.
