After a few leaked pictures and more than a few teasers, the newest member of the Range Rover family has officially been unveiled. The new Velar (which means To Veil or To Cover) is the forth SUV in the Range Rover family and sits snugly in between the Range Rover Evoque and the Range Rover Sport. The new Range Rover Velar will of course be making it to India next year with a possible 2018 Auto Expo unveil and should be priced around the Rs 70-80 lakh mark to go up against the likes of the BMW X5, the Audi Q7, the Volvo XC90 and even the Jaguar F-Pace and the Porsche Macan.
The new generation Audi Q5 was caught testing in Mumbai ahead of its launch scheduled in the second half of 2017. The all-new luxury SUV will be taking on a host offerings like the Mercedes-Benz GLE, Jaguar F-Pace and the likes in the segment. The new model will be locally assembled keeping prices competitive.
The Skoda Kodiaq Scout is expected to be launched in India in the second half of 2017. Skoda should most definitely bring in the Scout variant on the Kodiaq in India with its off-road ready styling to take on the likes of the larger and more aggressively designed SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour while the standard car can take on the likes of the Hyundai Tucson and the upcoming Volkswagen Tiguan.
The 2017 North American International Auto Show or NAIAS played host to Audis brand new and long awaited flagship coupe SUV concept, the Audi Q8. The Q8 will be more expensive than the Q7 and feature future styling when unveiled in production form sometime later this year.
Land Rover India recently imported a single model of the Range Rover Sport powered by a V6 petrol engine for homologation. Considering currently only the SVR variant is powered by a petrol engine, this indicates the Range Rover Petrol could be on the cards for India. The Range Rover Sport imported to India is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 Supercharged petrol engine.
The Audi Q2 will be the smallest and cheapest offering from the German luxury car maker and will be priced between Rs 18-25 lakh when launched in 2017.
