Selecting the Best Sports Bike in India

Buying a new vehicle is a big investment, be it a four-wheeler or two. Hence, you need to be clever when making such an investment, especially if it’s a sports bike.

These motorcycles are the most performance-oriented bikes, even though they are lightweight. Beginners and expert riders have several options when it comes to sport motorcycle. Here are some pointers to take into account before buying these rides:

    • You cannot directly jump from a 150cc bike to a 4 cylinder sports bike. You should ease into it. Buy a bike with 296cc or less, and then climb your way up.
    • Think about what you want instead of getting influenced by your fellow sports bike rider.
    • You should invest in a good set of riding gear, especially when buying a sports bike. Spend like 10% of the bike value on these gears to ensure safety, as even the most skilled rider can and has faced accidents.
    • Keep the fuel price in mind as the fuel price for a sports bike cost much higher. So make sure to learn about the number of cylinders and cubic capacity as these lessen or increase fuel consumption.
    • You should take your sports bike out for riding routinely, don’t keep it as a souvenir.

    Types of Sports Bike

As said above, there are several options when it comes to sports bike types. And learning about it will help you make a smart purchase decision.

Cylinder – Sport bikes can be differentiated from one another depending on the cylinder type and the number of cylinders these have. A V4 cylinder or 4 cylinder sports bike has been said to be the perfect engine as it gives smoothness, output purity and smoothness. These are best for top-level racings. Similarly, a V-twin cylinder provides more power with less vibration. And single-cylinder sports bikes are suitable for crisp, sharp and fast throttle.

Cubic Capacity – CC or cubic capacity is another component that differentiates types of sports bikes. The higher the cc would be, the more fuel your bike will consume, giving you more horsepower.

Gearbox – Most sports bikes have a one-down or 5-speed gearbox. But some of these also have 6-speed transmissions when the driver uses her foot to activate a clutch while shifting gears.

FAQ's of Sports Bikes

Sports bikes are motorbikes that prioritize speed, acceleration, braking efficiency, and cornering ability over comfort and fuel efficiency. They have more horsepower and torque, which allows the bike to accelerate faster and achieve its highest speed more quickly.
The top sports bikes in India are Yamaha YZF R15 V4.0, Kawasaki Ninja H2R, KTM RC 200, TVS Apache RR 310 and more.
Honda CB1000 Hornet SP, Honda CB750 Hornet, Kawasaki 2025 Versys-X 300 and Benelli TRK 502 X are the new sports bikes launched in India.
The upcoming sports bikes in 2025 are Kawasaki Z400, Triumph Tiger Sport 800, Benelli 752S and Yamaha YZF MT-07 .
Fairings on the sides of the bike provide better aerodynamics, enabling the bike to cut the wind efficiently. This indeed does improve the top speed as well.
Although it is not a faired sport bike, the Royal Enfield Continental GT is a bang for one's buck with a parallel twin 650cc engine. If a faired motorcycle is what you want, one can take a look at the Kawasaki Ninja 300.
The internals of these bikes may be exactly the same. However, a few changes in the hardware implicate that a sport bike is made as an all-rounder track bike whereas a roadster is more apt for in-city rides due to its nimble handling and lighter weight.
This is due to the fact that they are designed for track use. The fairing aids in cutting the wind, while the ergonomics enable the rider to flick the bike into a corner instantly. Even the rear footpegs enable the rider to push a tighter lean angle.
Yes! The fastest accelerating sport bike under 4 lakhs is the KTM RC 390 with a 0-100 time of just 5.9 seconds.
